Wingate students have been having a tough time lately due to the Klondike being closed. The popular food option has been under construction since before the start of the 2019-2020 academic year and is being renovated to better support the Wingate student body.
However the wait for the Klondike’s return hasn’t been easy for some students.
When asked how the Klondike’s closure has affected her, sophomore Kassady Grant said, “I have to go out of my way to get food and everything is crowded or closed. It kind of sucks and goes against the meal plan we paid for.”
Junior Yanismariel Arroyo Lopez followed Grant to say “I don’t have many food choices on the weekends or late at night anymore. Plus, it’s really annoying to have to wait in long lines just to eat between classes.”
But relief is in sight.
Within the next few weeks, the Klondike will be back and better than ever.
According to Brittney Cook, Sr. District Marketing Manager for Aramark food services, the Klondike is expected to open in mid-October.
Once up and running, the Klondike will house Freshens Fresh Food Studio, Bento Sushi, Chick-fil-A, and the Klondike Grab & Go Store.
Freshens Fresh Food Studio will offer students fresh, prepared to order, food options as well as signature blended smoothies, while Bento Sushi will offer fresh sushi every day.
Students will be able to use meal swipes at both the Freshens and the Chick-fil-A. The meal swipes will consist of full combo meal options.
Until then, students can use meal swipes at the dining hall, Einstein’s Bagels in the library, and the Provisions on Demand (P.O.D.) locations in the Neu and Levine academic buildings.
Operating hours for each location can be found on the school’s website and posted at every on-campus food location.
