Flu Season During COVID-19

Staff Writer: Amy Cenname

With COVID-19 cases still having a huge impact on the Wingate Community, Flu season is now among us and it could be one of the worst one yet to come. Although cases of COVID-19 have dropped significantly, it is still very important that everyone remembers to continue doing the three W’s. Wear a mask, wait six feet apart, and wash your hands.

According to the CDC website, “Any licensed, age-appropriate influenza vaccine during the 2020-2021 influenza season, including inactivated influenza vaccine [IIV], recombinant influenza vaccine [RIV], or live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV)” is highly recommended for everyone to get.

Currently, the flu shot is very accessible for Wingate Students, they are able to easily book an appointment to receive a flu shot either by calling the health center or booking an appointment online. “I was able to easily make an appointment online in order to receive my flu shot”, Wingate student, Natalie Peneger said

For more information or questions regarding getting a flu shot email health.center@wingate.edu or call Wingate’s Health Center at (704)-233-8102.
