Wingate University is home to some of the most entrepreneurial and innovative students. Some have already started their own businesses, including hair and nail services and editing companies. These students have shown extraordinary leadership.
Sam Cowher co-owns SNE Vintage, a clothing company that sells vintage items. He started his business with his friend Elijah Barnes who he met through Wingate. They shared their aspirations of being business owners and their love for fashion.
Due to the research and inventory purchasing, SNE Vintage became a full-time job. Once school and football season started, the business was moved online, adapting its processes to fit the demand. SNE Vintage has its regular customers, around 10 people Cowher sees every two to three weeks. Having conversations and discussing other’s passions has helped him build relationships with his customer base. Cowher’s work ethic and passion made it possible for his business to be successful, as he genuinely loves what he does.
SNE Vintage sells many of its products on Depop, a popular e-commerce store for second-hand clothing.
A’kira Hames also shows exceptional leadership with her business, Delicious Addictions, which she started at the age of 12. Starting as a fun venture, including an extra source of income, Hames offers an assortment of baked goods like cake, cookies, brownies, and even smoothies.
She was inspired to start her business by her mother, whom she learned to bake from. Now, she sells her goods in bulk to a catering company, which can order 50 to 150 goods at a time. Hames typically fulfills these orders every six months.
Much like SNE, Delicious Addictions is busiest during the summer and slow in the winter. Nevertheless, business is steady.
In the future, Hames sees her businesses continuing to grow, selling more products, and hiring a team so she can take more special requests and bigger orders.

“Overall, I want the business to grow along with the clientele,” says Hames.
Hames and Cowher are examples of students harnessing their skills and creating last opportunities after college. Undoubtedly, they have set themselves up for success in their life after Wingate University.
