April 2024
On Monday, April 8, Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy Dr. Grant Thompson and the Wingate Department of Chemistry and Physics hosted a directed viewing of the solar eclipse on the Quad for students. Members of the university’s Chemistry Club distributed free solar eclipse glasses and safety fliers between classes beginning at 1:30 p.m. until peak coverage of the Wingate campus was reached at 3:12 p.m. There was a great turnout for what one student called “a twice-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The Triangle staff thought it was a good opportunity for this second edition of “The Wingate Word,” getting answers from those in attendance to this question
Why did you want to come out and view the eclipse today?
